• FROM THE DIRECTOR •
“The beauty of creating music and art lies in the ability to share and express feeling, thought, and the products of hard work. Many music organizations focus on half of what the arts are about: individual practice. At Aurora, our passion is to emphasize the other half: the joy of performance and collaboration. Great performance opportunity is what we strive to facilitate, all the while maintaining the values of care, patience, and nuance. Music and art should be all about the joy of sharing and experiencing.”
—Sam Hollister, artistic director and founder

Aurora Collaborative is a non-profit community chamber music program with the mission of uniting, inspiring, engaging, and innovating through unique collaboration between musicians and artists of all backgrounds.
• OUR ensembles •
both small and big
When new members join, we help form chamber groups among them, or invite them to our existing ensembles, such as the Aurora Chamber Orchestra and our many duets, trios, quartets, and quintets.
See some of our ensembles in action, through photo and video, at our featured page.
• OUR MISSION •
UNITE
We are a program that anyone can join, whether a student, amateur, or professional. Our members rehearse together in chamber groups, making connections and friendships across the divides of age, discipline, artistic background, and experience level.
INSPIRE
All of our musicians play together in community settings such as libraries, churches, galleries, senior centers, and retirement homes. Rather than bring concertgoers to a single venue, our concerts bring unique, inspiring events directly to the community.
ENGAGE
Our participants are primarily in charge of their repertoire, goals, and schedule. Each group is guided by its members' own drive to engage with the Rhode Island community on their journey to share, improve, and collaborate on their musicianship and art.
INNOVATE
Multi-disciplinary collaboration is central to our mission. Along our journey to bring the community together in creative ways, we explore the intersections of art and music through collaborations such as performative art and inspired composition.
